Starting … Now!

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning.  (Lamentations 3:22-23a)

When our kids play the quiet game, they have trouble getting started.  Somebody says, “Starting…now.”  Someone else makes a noise then says, “Startiiing….now!”  A fake sneeze, then….”Startiiiiiing….NOW!  Well I’m sure you get the point.  The quiet game often ends up being anything but quiet.

You’ve tried hard to do what is best for your family, but you find yourself falling into bed at night with the guilt of hurtful words and actions lingering in your mind.  You feel like a failure.  You think, “I’ll be better tomorrow.”  Starting…NOW!  Only to find that tomorrow feels like more of the same.

Are you sick and tired of dealing with an ungrateful, disrespectful child?  No matter what you do, it’s never enough.  Everyday is the same.  “Starting…now.”

Life is full of frustrations and challenges.  The good news - “…his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning.” Lamentations 3:23

God is the one who thought of “Starting….Now!” He says it every morning!  His mercies are fresh each day for your words to your kids and husband.  His mercies begin anew to help you train your disrespectful/ungrateful child.  His strength starts all over again for whatever your trial may be.

Mercy is letting someone off the hook when they really don’t deserve it. (According to Focus on the Family’s “Adventures in Odyssey!”)  God lets us off the hook over and over.   And He can help us share mercy again and again to the kid stuck in the routine of arguing and complaining.

So…Starting…now, Lord, please help us accept Your mercy.  We are hard on ourselves.  I pray we would allow Your mercies to cover our mistakes.  Thank You for tirelessly giving us 2nd chances again and again.  In the same way, would You remind us to offer the same mercy to our children, husband, and in all the circumstances that come our way? Thank You!  For Your Glory…Amen.

Blessings…
Sharon

What issues are you facing that could use the salve of His mercy?

  1. Wishing you could stay at home rather than work
  2. Longing for work instead of staying home
  3. The shape of your body
  4. The cleanliness of your house
  5. The condition of your marriage

The list could go on and on.  Whatever it is…Start now knowing His compassions never fail and His mercies are new every morning.
